For only $22 our Footy Special includes a choice of pizza and a glass of house wine or a beer.  We guarantee that you can order and eat in 30 minutes and then it is a leisurely 13 minute walk to the 'G'.

Valid only for MCG games, the Footy Special is not valid for Grand Final Day.

If you want to give our signature dish, Beignets a try just follow these simple steps.


Beignet Mix

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

8 tablespoons minced onion

10 tablespoons corn flour

2 cups unsweetened coconut milk

900 grams crab meat, cooked


1 cup panko crumbs

2 tablespoons mixed black and white sesame seeds

Egg whites from 2 large eggs

Vegetable oil for frying


Ginger dressing

2 cups sugar

660ml fresh lime juice

300g grated fresh ginger

5 tablespoons soy sauce

Combine sugar, lime juice and ginger in a small saucepan and bring to the boil.

 Continue stirring until sugar dissolves and strain. Add the soy and allow to cool.


Serving your beignets

 4 medium grapefruit, peeled and segmented

 1 tablespoon ginger dressing per beignet

 1 red chilli, seeded and thinly sliced

 Fresh coriander leaves


In a medium saucepan, melt butter, add onion and cook over moderately low heat until softened (approx 4 mins). In a small bowl whisk coconut milk and 9 tablespoons of cornflour until smooth. Add coconut milk mix to the onion and cook over high heat while whisking until bubbling and thick (approx. 2 mins). Remove from heat and allow to cool to room temperature.

Pick through the crab to remove any shells. Mix the crab meat with the coconut milk mix and season with salt to taste.
Roll mixture into 15 gram balls and transfer to a baking paper lined tray, cover and freeze until firm.

In a large bowl toss panko crumbs with the sesame seeds. In another bowl whisk the egg whites until firm peaks form. Add 1 tablespoon of cornflour and continue whisking until smooth. Dip the frozen crab balls into the egg mix allowing excess to drip off using a fork. Coat the ball thoroughly in the sesame and crumb mix. Return the beignets to the tray and let stand at room temperature until thawed but not too soft.

Shallow fry the beignets until golden brown (approx 2-3 mins). Garnish with spoonfuls of the dressing, fresh coriander, grapefruit segments and chilli.


** Chef tip!

Fresh crab is always best but hard to source so frozen will do. This recipes makes plenty of beignets however they keep well in the freezer for up to 6 months.

Every Sunday night at GG is BYO friendly. From 5pm, guests are allowed to "bring their own" at the corkage price of $15 per bottle.

We're famous for our rotisserie at GG. The heart of the kitchen and the focus of the restaurant, Paul and the chefs love to slow cook a variety of meats until they're tender and extra tasty.  Here's a snap shot of what you might see and when... Sunday is herb rubbed pork with crispy crackling, golden raisins, apple and chive salad. We'll provide the roast pork and you can BYO wine for $15 corkage per bottle (limited to 3 bottles per table, Sunday only).  Every other night is all about the lamb shoulder; beautifully seasoned (shh it's a secret recipe) and complimented with dill yoghurt. Lunch daily you will find yoghurt marinated chicken needing healthy lashings of freshly squeezed lemon (DIY to taste). All rotisserie offerings come as a serve for two if you can find someone willing to share otherwise don't fear, there is also a serve for one to soothe a hungry solo diner. All portions come with our moreish parmesan and thyme french fries. We also have plenty of vegetarian options if meat isn't your thing - our rotisserie special is on top of our usual menu offering. 

Pomegranate Mojito

Our cocktail list has been getting some love lately, as you can see from this pic! 

If you can't make it to the bar to try these beauties in person, why not make the Pomegranate Mojito at home?  It's the one on the right- it's a little exotic, but a relatively simple recipe and sure to impress! 

45 ml Bacardi white rum 

30ml Pom juice 

20ml fresh lime juice 

15 ml pama 

10 ml sugar syrup 

5 X fresh mint leaves 

Extra mint leaves and pomegranate seeds for the garnish

Add all ingredients into a Boston shaker, shake and pour out into a generously sized glass of your choosing. Top with crushed ice and soda, garnish with extra mint leaves and pomegranate seeds.

We can take care of the food with menus starting at $25 for 2 courses at lunch.  Our sommeliers can recommend beverages or be on hand to host a wine or champagne tasting on the day. 

The private Clarendon Room is ideal for games and good times.  We have a few suggestions that might tickle your fancy.
